We, who are washed in the blood of Christ, the Lamb, will be called OAKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, a planting of the Lord. And God is not a careless gardener who tosses a seed in the air to land where it will hoping it will fall on good ground. Indeed not. For the Lord's bag is filled with precious seed and he lovingly plants each one by the water (Ps. 1:3) that it may send out its roots by the stream - a very special stream which can never dry up. For this is a river flowing with living water abundantly supplied by our Lord Jesus, constantly bathing our roots that we might have eternal life (John 4:l0-l3).

So we are trees who do not fear when heat comes nor do we worry in a year of drought. We can never be thirsty nor can our leaves wither. We are trees which prosper with our foliage always green and never do we fail to yield fruit (Jer. l7:8; Ps. l:3; John 4:10 & 11; Ps. 92:l4). In fact we will be known by our fruit. Hear our Lord Jesus' words to us, "...I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last."(John 15:16). Did he not even die that he might redeem us from our sins to purify us and make us zealous for good works? (Titus 2:14). We cannot fail for a good tree cannot bear bad fruit (Matt.7:l7). Having been baptized into Christ's death we have died to sin. How then can we live in it any longer? God forbid! (Rom. 3:3l; Rom. 6:1-3). We are called OAKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS and our Lord Jesus with his divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him that we might bear fruit to God (2 Pet. l:3; Rom. 7:4).

O, let us pause and kneel before the Lord, our maker, who has so graciously planted and nurtured us. For how different would it be had he left us numbered among the wicked. For the wicked are not rooted in Christ nor do they drink of his living water. They can be compared only to sickly trees whose roots wither in dry and scorched places. Though for a time they may flourish like a green tree in its native soil, they are bad trees which cannot bear good fruit and they will soon pass away and be no more. Our Lord tells us that every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire (Ps. 37:35 & 36; Matt. 7:l5-l9).

But we are OAKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. (Is. 60:21; Is. 61:3). What a humbling thought that God would use us for such a purpose! When we consider the works of his hands, the moon and stars that he has ordained, what are we that he is even mindful of us? (Ps. 8:3 & 4). And yet while we were still sinners, our Lord Jesus lavished on us his grace and determined to be punished for our sin by pouring out his own blood on Calvary that we might be justified forever and washed from our iniquities (Rom.4:25; Rom. 5; Rev. l:5). And he called us out of darkness into his marvelous light that we might declare his praises and bear fruit that all men might know that we are his disciples (1 Pet. 2:9; John l5:8). Sing for joy O, heavens, shout aloud O earth, for the Lord has redeemed his people and in them he displays his glory (Is. 44:23).

We are OAKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, a planting of the Lord of imperishable seed (1 Pet. 1:23). When our Lord Jesus comes in glory to judge the nations with his truth (Ps. 96:13), he will be glorified in his holy people and marveled at among all those who have believed (2 Thess. l:l0). Forever in eternity will we thrive like a palm tree and grow like a cedar of Lebanon for we will be planted in the House of the Lord and will flourish in the Courts of our God (Ps. 92:l2-l4)

The man in Christ shall flourish well,
Ane in the House of God shall dwell;
He shall be like a goodly tree,
And all his life shall fruitful be.
From Psalm 92:12-15
